Thanks to tremendous support from Morris County Correctional Facility Warden Chris Klein, Prevention is Key offered an in-person training to Morris County Correctional Facility Employees on September 21st. Presented by Frank Picone, Chief Training Officer from The Institute of the Center for Great Expectations, the training, “Working With Traumatized Inmates” discussed the seriousness of trauma in the lives of inmates and explained components of a trauma-informed workforce. Mr. Picone stressed the importance of creating a trauma-attuned workforce to minimize triggers, stabilize offenders, reduce critical incidents and optimize safety in correctional environments.
While twenty staff members attended the training, Warden Klein has promised to offer the recorded video for all staff to view, because he noted that he had gotten “very positive feedback from staff on an often delicate subject.”
