PEER Mentors made meaningful connections with Mountain Lakes youth

Arielle and Nissim had the pleasure of tabling today (October 21, 2021) at Mountain Lakes High School for the school’s Wellness Fair, a collection of organizations and entities that promote safe living, particularly for the youth. Armed with drug trivia questions and a mountain of green Pop It’s, the PEER Youth Mentoring table was a huge hit with the high schoolers.

The kids were genuinely interested in the lesser known facts about habits their peers get into, like how vapes contain formaldehyde and how it is possible to overdose on nicotine. Long after the number of prizes for answering a trivia question were slim pickings, the kids continued to come test their knowledge, laughing with their friends, and talk with the mentors. PEER was also able to make valuable connections with the other organizations at the Wellness Fair.
