You may be familiar with #GivingTuesday. This global giving movement falls annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and has been built by individuals, families, organizations, businesses. and communities around the world. For the first time this year, Prevention is Key will be joining the thousands of not-for-profits participating this global day of giving on November 29th, 2022.
Why we are doing it…
For over 33-years, Prevention is Key has served Morris County and the surrounding communities. Today, we provide evidence-based prevention programs, comprehensive recovery support services and high-value training to individuals pursuing a career in peer recovery support services to thousands of individuals in eight counties throughout the state of New Jersey. Our mission is simple, we aim to build something special, a stigma-free community that is resilient to problematic substance use and supportive of recovery. Recovery is an incredibly personal experience and every recovery journey we support is unique.
What Is #PIKYourWhy:
Your stories inspire us every day, which is why we are proud to launch a campaign that invites you to share your why, your reason, and your story, in your words. #PIKYourWhy is a campaign inviting you, our supporters, friends, peers, and loved ones to give voice to your reasons for being part of our stigma-free community. By giving voice to our journeys together, we can pave the way for others to follow and continue to reduce the stigma associated with problematic substance use.
All you have to do to participate is post a photo, like the one featured in this blog post, and share a few words about why this work is important to you. Be sure to use #PIKYourWhy! You can also tag Prevention is Key using @PreventionisKey.CARES on Facebook or @pik_inc on Instagram.

Our Goal…
The goal of the campaign is to raise $5,000 by #GivingTuesday. Reaching the goal is of vital importance. There are over 27,000 individuals with a diagnosed SUD in the communities served by Prevention is Key, plus many others who struggle with problematic and chaotic use without any official diagnosis. With these funds, we can provide more homeless care packages, transportation to and from treatment programs, scholarships for treatment, and more. This campaign is not just about raising money, it’s about helping people.
