Prevention is Key is Awarded Grant from F. M. Kirby Foundation to support critical recovery and prevention programs in Morris County.

Rockaway, N.J. (July 7, 2022) – Prevention Is Key (PIK), a north Jersey-based non-profit substance misuse prevention agency, announced today that it has received a $25,000 grant from the F. M. Kirby Foundation to support critical recovery and prevention programs in Morris County. This funding comes at a crucial time as fatal drug overdoses hit an all-time high in 2021 and continue to rise.

“The past two years have not been easy. We have seen many people we serve struggling to adjust to the stress of a post-pandemic world. In this framework, our services in both prevention and recovery have become even more important to our communities,” shared PIK Executive Director, Christopher Goeke. “We meet people where they are, but we don’t leave them there. We recognize that each recovery journey is different, it’s a very individual process. We’ve designed our support system to be a profoundly personal experience. That’s why it works.”

This grant continues a funding relationship that has spanned over 30-years between the F.M. Kirby Foundation and Prevention is Key, a testament to the Foundation’s commitment to establishing long-term relationships with its grantees.

The F. M. Kirby Foundation is a multi-generational family foundation headquartered in Morristown, NJ. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded over $750 million in grants to partners who foster self-reliance or otherwise created strong, healthy communities.

PIK anticipates that the funding for this grant will cover various organizational and programmatic expenses, and an array of services that support individuals in their recovery from substance use and misuse.

F.M. Kirby Foundation Executive Director Justin J. Kiczek shared that the foundation takes great pride in seeing the impact their grantmaking has made. “The F. M. Kirby Foundation’s mission calls us to invest in opportunities that foster self-reliance and help create strong, healthy communities. It is an honor to support non-profits that play such a vital role in helping individuals and families flourish.”
