Prevention is Key Receives $10K Grant for Continued Development of its CARES Package Social Venture

Rockaway, N.J. (Nov. 12, 2020) – Prevention Is Key (PIK), a north Jersey-based non-profit substance misuse prevention agency, announced today that it has been awarded a $10K grant from the N.J. Department of State’s Office of Faith-Based Initiatives (OFBI) for the continued development of its CARES Package Social Venture.

Prevention is Key’s CARES Package Social Venture is a highly successful program designed to help friends and family members of those struggling with substance use disorder offer meaningful, tangible support to inspire and strengthen their recovery journeys. By way of a themed and curated “Gift Box” with practical, inspirational and motivational items, the CARES Package Social Venture allows loved ones to play a more active role in helping those in recovery live a life of healing and purpose.

“We are grateful for this grant and look forward to applying it to scale up our CARES Package Social Venture,” said PIK Executive Director Chris Goeke. “By bringing loved ones of those suffering from substance use disorder into the recovery support circle in an active way, this program empowers friends and family members, making them feel less marginalized while contributing to a positive path to recovery for the individual in need.”

The award is part of the OFBI Social Enterprise Entrepreneurship Development (SE2D) grant series that provides capacity-building capital to emerging social ventures that address difficult social issues.
