Title: LEAD Phillipsburg Outreach and Intake Coordinator/Community Engagement Coordinator
What are your primary duties? Provide street-based outreach and engagement services to low-level drug users and hard-to-engage populations. Developing positive, collaborative relationships with law enforcement and social services providers to effectively serve mutual clients. Provide screening, outreach, and engagement to individuals referred to LEAD. Develop and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with LEAD partners and other service providers including SUD and mental health treatment providers, health care providers, shelter providers, landlords, detox centers, and DSHS workers.
Where did you go to school and what did you study? Centenary University for bachelor’s in social work (BSW). Rutgers University for master’s in social work (MSW).
How many years have you worked in the field? I have worked in the field for 9 years.
Why do you work in the field? Through my own journey of recovery, this area of work found me. Being able to be of service is truly a humbling experience. Today, I get to be part of a solution that’s much greater than me and I’m able to meet individuals where they’re at on their own journey.
