Title: Pre-Trial Services Recovery Support Coordinator

Department: CARES

Extension: 119

What are your primary duties? As the Pre-Trial Services Recovery Support Coordinator, I work to implement the Morris County Pre-Trial Services project providing social support and recovery services to individuals charged and awaiting trial in Morris County Pre-Trial Services. Eligible individuals can receive support in accessing resources for economic stability, education, social and community aspects, healthcare, home/environment needs, legal assistance, and recovery support services. In this role I have the privilege of working with drug court, probation, and other clients to help them access support and maintain recovery.

Where did you go to school and what did you study? I completed my BA in Psychology at Montclair State University (MSU) in 2016. In 2018 I returned to MSU to complete the coursework in Certified Alcohol and Drug Counseling (CADC). I am currently attending Rutgers University pursuing my Master of Social Work with the concentration being Addiction Counseling.

How many years have you worked in the field? I have one year of prior experience in the recovery field and five years of experience in non-profit/social services settings such as youth civic engagement, community resources, childcare subsidy, and career development.

Why do you work in the field? I have always had a passion for helping others and being a source of support. In my own life I have seen and experienced the effects of substance use to know that there are individuals and families in need of resources, support, and sometimes just a listening ear. In this role I feel fulfilled in what drives me while also giving back to the community.
