Department: PIK (Prevention)
What are your primary duties? I assist in the implementation, organization, and technical support of the Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) initiative in Morris County Schools. I also help facilitate various prevention programs including: Footprints, We’re Not Buying It 2.0, Lifeskills, 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, and Don’t Get Vaped In. Additionally, I translate and facilitate our prevention programs into Spanish.
Where did you go to school and what did you study? B.S. in Public Health Science from the University of Maryland
How many years have you worked in the field? 1 year
Why do you work in the field? I am a firm believer in the idea that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. As a life-long Morris County resident, I know all too well the pain our community has felt from the opioid epidemic. Helping educate and provide resources to my community on the topic of substance use gives me a unique sense of purpose that even if I help just one person, I’ve made a difference.
