How many years have you worked in the field? 30+ years in this field

Why do you work in the field? I was first introduced to the field of addiction during my undergraduate work. I completed my field work on the detox unit at St. Clares and from there became deeply interested in the effects addiction has on the whole family. I believe this is a health issue not an issue of a person’s ability to refrain from destructive behaviors.

I became involved in the legislative requirement to license the addiction field to bring it to a more professionally accepted profession. I have been on the licensing committee since its inception, and continue to believe in helping people during one of life’s hardest challenges. I continue to work to better the field of addiction and to be a resource for people in need.
