Title: Volunteer/Outreach Coordinator
Department: Prevention, CARES
What are your primary duties? My primary duties will include recruiting, training and managing our valuable volunteer workforce. My goal is to make connections within the community in order to maintain a steady pipeline of volunteers. In addition, I am a CRAFT(Community Reinforcement and Family Training) trained Family Peer and I co-facilitate the Thursday evening CRAFT Family Support Meetings.
Where did you go to school and what did you study? I received a BA in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and International Business and a minor in French from Towson University.
How many years have you worked in the field? I started working in this field as a volunteer for my local municipal alliance and served for 3 years doing substance use prevention work and in July of 2019 I joined CARES as a volunteer.
Why do you work in the field? Supporting loved ones of someone in active addiction or early recovery is incredibly important. Offering them tools to navigate a difficult set of circumstances can empower them to help their loved ones on their road to recovery in meaningful ways. As a parent of someone in recovery, I learned a great deal on my own journey of recovery so when CARES began offering CRAFT, I knew I wanted to be part of that effort.
