Prevention is Key Receives General Operating Support Grant from The F.M. Kirby Foundation

Rockaway, N.J. (August 4, 2020) – Prevention Is Key (PIK), a north Jersey-based non-profit substance misuse prevention agency, announced today that it has received a $25,000 grant from the F.M. Kirby Foundation for general operating support in the 2019-2020 fiscal year.

The F. M. Kirby Foundation is a multi-generational family foundation headquartered in Morristown, NJ. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded over $720 million in grants to partners who foster self-reliance or otherwise created strong, health communities.

This grant marks the 31st year that the Kirby Foundation has awarded funds to Prevention is Key, a testament to the Foundation’s commitment to establishing long-term relationships with its grantees.

“We’re honored by and grateful for our long-lasting history with The Kirby Foundation,” commented PIK Executive Director Chris Goeke. “The essential work that PIK does for our community takes time, effort and perseverance. And, it’s sustained funding relationships like the one we have with The Kirby Foundation that allow that type of work to happen. The fact that the grant is for general operating support gives us the latitude to make spending decisions that will serve our operations and communities best.”

PIK anticipates that the funding for this grant will cover various organizational and programmatic expenses, and an array of services that support individuals in their recovery from substance use and misuse.

In a press release announcing the foundation’s 2019 grant-making activities, Kirby Foundation Executive Vice President Justin J. Kiczek said, “The F. M. Kirby Foundation’s mission calls us to invest in opportunities that foster self-reliance and help create strong, healthy communities. As such, over the course of my first months here, I have taken delight in seeing how our grantees contribute to the well-being of the communities in which we work. Whether it be through our support of a local arts organization or a national medical research center, it is an honor to support non-profits that play such a vital role in helping individuals and families flourish.”
