During the week of October 23-30, communities throughout the United States will celebrate Red Ribbon Week in honor of DEA Special Agent Kiki Camerana, who was killed while trying to expose a multi-billion-dollar drug pipeline. Red Ribbon Week has highlighted the importance of living a drug-free life since 1988, giving parents, educators, and communities an opportunity to reinforce the drug-free messages they share with their children throughout the year. During Red Ribbon Week, youth, and adults around the nation pledge to increase their knowledge by learning more about the destructive effects of drug abuse, including prescription drug misuse, and renew their commitment to live a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
PIK is happy to provide Morris County schools with fun ideas to help celebrate “Red Ribbon Week” –like school celebration days—”Wear Red Day”, “Put a Cap on Drugs Day”, “Shade Out Drugs Day”(wear sunglasses), etc. or distribute sample Instagram and Facebook posts and tweets. Contact bkauffman@mcpik.org if you’re interested in being a part of the biggest drug abuse prevention campaign in the nation.
