Hearts, Hands and Voices

My experience as a CARES volunteer has meant so much to me these past two years. As a parent of a person in recovery, I wanted to support families of people in active addiction and early recovery.  I know what a difficult and frightening place that can be, so when CARES started a CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training) program, I knew I wanted to be part of it.  Helping people navigate their landscape using new tools that they learn in CRAFT has been really rewarding for me.  It has also kept me on track with my own work as a person who loves someone in recovery.  But the most important aspect of volunteering at CARES is being connected to this caring, compassionate community of people who genuinely love helping others.  For this, I am grateful every day.
